Hurricanes, spoons and blue grass bands.

Good morning y’all,

You might have noticed that a catastrophic hurricane is bearing down on the Carolinas. I live by Raleigh NC so we will be impacted. Several relatives live on the east coast and they have taken up residence at my house. Consequently I have taken my daughter in law and all my “spoons “ and exited to the mountains in West Virginia. For newbies please search old posts for the spoon theory. The point of all this is, 5 years ago I would have stayed behind making sure everyone had clean sheets, cooked meals, entertainment, and a correct view of life. Well, thanks to good old GCA tonight I enjoyed a great band called “Good Morning Bedlam” at a local pub (appropriate name since Flo will strike NC early AM). Please check this sweet young band out on YouTube or Facebook, the universe will smile on you!

Even in adversity there are valuable lessons.

Blessings on your journey!

Hoping you, your family and friends are safe. I spent some time this morning listening to “Good Morning Bedlam” on YouTube here in the UK. They are excellent, thank you for the recommendation. On a serious note the search took me randomly to live viewing of the hurricane in North Carolina.

Thinking of everyone affected by this, take care x

WoW, forwardmotion! I lived in S. Florida for 35 years... I remember hurricanes and preparing for them.. it's EXHAUSTING! Good on you for "getting out of Dodge!" I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Be well and be safe!!!

Yes good idea you 'took off' - we are way down here in OZ but my partner's nephew had just taken up a scholarship to play football at a uni in Nth Carolina and they have been evacuated to Charlotte - which still looks a bit close to things for his parent's liking. But stay safe and hopefully the worst will be avoided for everyone !

Tell them not to worry. If he was evacuated then there are people looking out for him. He will always remember the hurricane of 2018!

He'll be fine in Charlotte. The winds dropped already, and drop even further as the storm travels over land.

He might get quite wet, though. There's an unusual amount of rain expected with this storm.

One side note to all this, I have had to increase my prednisone dose of course. Too much driving and worry.

Lessons well learned - and hope it all blows over quickly and as safely as possible.

Very intelligent solution.

Hope you laid in lots of supplies, though. It may be a while before it stops raining, even in W Virginia...
