Puffy above and below my eyes (help?)

Long time no post.

I have had puffiness below my eyes for sometime and related it to steroids.

Am increasingly puffy on upper lids now and am aware I am working hard to keep my eyes open for some of the time.

Firstly, is it pred?

Secondly, any tips for reducing the puffiness will be greatly appreciated.

There will be a sale starting this afternoon at the NYRO shop, one of my purchases with be the Summer Tea which is for allergies....it has Eyebright in it and I have noticed the amazing effects within 5 mins of drinking this.

Hope you're all coping with the cold and shorter days.

I don't think Thea's dad is trying to save on his heating bill, but she is not impressed with the foil cape! (PS she's just started crawling :D )

Hello,

For what it’s worth. Since Pred I get puffy around my eyes amongst other places when I have had too much salt, which is not much at all. Takes 3-5 days to get rid of it by cutting out all salt. Still happens on 12.5mg.

Hmmm :( I suspect salt too. Gonna have to cut it completely.

I can't take my eyes off your gorgeous Thea. She looks like the best Christmas present ever. Interesting about the eyebright tea, I must try it. My deathly tiredness does feel like I can't keep my eyes open, so I don't. I sleep as and when, having been relieved of my Granny duties ( temporarily I hope). They are all in Australia. I save my used tea bags in a little bowl and when I have a nap I put a damp teabag on each eye. It's soothing and makes them look clearer. It might be Pred,I don't have it but have had in the past, before PMR, when I was working. I'd check it out with the doctor in case it is a sign of something else. Nice to hear from you.

Wonder if it is blepharitis?

This is a pretty good article:

healthline.com/health/eye-h...

Salt gets a mention - and I'd have said it too. I still have the problem well below 10mg - any salt and I gain a couple of pounds in weight and eyes and ankles know it!

I read the article (thanks).

Not blepharitis thankfully.

Many of the healthy eating tips I follow but salt is my nemisis.

Changed recently to sea salt after sharing the video on here about salt.

May have to go back to the Potassium substitute which is not a good sub.

Cut it down slowly - and once you get to a very low level it will take about 6 weeks to get used to none. It isn't an endless suffering.

Sea salt is still salt. There is some evidence that there are cetain nutrients in the "special" salts but it is minimal. And the potassium substitutes are not totally NaCl-free.

Blimey Marathon runners get younger ever year!

Lovely photo - looks like my latest addition. He just hasn't got the hang of crawling yet, thinks if he rocks back and forth on his bottom something miraculous will happen! I wonder if there is a moral in this story!!

Had a cat scan because of the swelling above and below both eyes. Fatty deposits from the prednisone was the diagnosis and won't go away til I'm off prednisone. If I'm lucky, that will be next year! When my "half mast " eyes are too heavy, I take a nap. Driving is out too, unless it's a well known path. Just another side effect of prednisone to contend with!
