My question is I noticed my eyes are getting Buffy below the eye. I am not sure if this is a side effect from prednisone or PMR

I was diagnosed in December 2018. I was able to see rheumatologist in February

Prednisone

Started in February on 30 mg tapered down to 20 then 15 mg

Overall feeling good. Once I went below 10 started to feel bad

A long story feeling great now

I am presently on 15 mg

There is a certain amount of water retention with this condition and also sleep difficulties. Your doctor may be able to suggest something. My upper lids look a bit swollen and I think that my dry eyes and inefficient tear ducts are the culprit. I use prescribed preservative free dry eye drops and try to massage my eyes a little ( they have a tendency to feel irritated and to water).

Under my eyes was puffy initially on prednisolone, in my case probably a combination of water retention and moon face. It did just seem to go and the chubby cheeks as dosage went down, especially under 10mg daily. It may help to be careful of salt intake but I’m afraid I didn’t back then.

Pleased you are feeling well now.

Hi, glad you seem to be on a dose that deals with the inflammation effectively.

It sounds like you may need to cut salt out or down if you can. Pred and heat doesn't help. I also find that raising the head of the bed, put books under the wheels/legs at thread if the bed may help.

Under my eyes have gone very dark and baggy since pred. I have been using a rather pretty silver sparkly eye powder recently which seems to also drop down onto the bags, probably because I have rubbed my eyes, so they now look all sparkly!! I can make a feature of them!!💖

Pred. Had flare up. So here I am again. Good luck. You are in good company x

I find this happens to me in the evenings but in the morning the swelling is gone. I think it is the medication.

I developed puffy "bags" under my eyes on prednisone as well. But I'm happy to report that since I've tapered below 7mg, they are much improved -- not gone, but going -- as is my moon face.

Ditto....now at 6mg.
