However slowly you go - even with the Dead slow approach slowed down you will not get below the lowest dose that achieves the same result as the starting dose di. Any less and the symptoms will flare because not all the inflammation is being cleared out.
8mg is a low dose, about the amount of corticosteroid the body makes naturally anyway. I'd say if you get back to 8mg again stick there for a few months before trying again - this isn't a race and you need what you need.
PMRpro. I have had PMR for over 5 1/2 years, I have went from 7 to now 5 1/2 on the dead slow over two months. This is the first time I have no symptoms! I've actually been on vacation for 10 days in Arizona, today flying back home to Michigan, which I will start doing my 5 1/2 to 5mg. This has been quite interesting since I have been doing therapy for bulging disks and spinal stenosis after learning of it from my recent MRI. I think it's being retired and so much less stress that's making it possible. I will keep you all updated. 💕
The Steroid Taper Web Application pinned on the right of this page will show you numerous taper regimes, including the DSNS taper and will put it into a calendar for you. You can edit / update it at any time, so it's not on a tablet of stone!
Sandra, who designed it, has PMR herself.
