The Lighter Side of PMR - Another Little Pome Wot I Wrote… ;-)

Greetings Polymalingerers, Pred Playmates and Tapering Techies.

Well, it’s THAT time again! Yes, another Friday evening on the exciting Journey known as Perhaps-I-might-linger-longer and Giants-are-all-righteous.

In rare reflective mood, I penned the enclosed last night and thought you might like to appreciate my elegant use of the precise art of what is known as ‘Poetic Rhythm’.

Here goes:

Twinkle, twinkle little Pred, how you keep me from my bed!

Magic tabs to ease the pain so, one day, I‘ll feel normal again.

PMR feels like a dreaded curse.

But, in Life, there are things much worse.

-----

Now, where are my magic pills?

Ah, yes, in the wardrobe still (ok, so that didn't rhyme exactly..)

One in the morning, another at night.

And a little ‘something’ to help in the fight (first 'glug'…)

----

Twinkle, twinkle, little, or, er, whaadever.

Actually, this other stuff is going-down bedder (clink, hic).

Just a ‘small’ one, etc etc etc.

WHERE’S THE CAT GONE! (sorry - I was interrupted)

----

Where was I? Oh yes - The cat sat on the mat. Or was it the dog?

Cat my dog, I blame ‘Brain Frog’ - GRRRR (ok, so I lost the rhythm a bit here too)

Anyway, WHO LET THE ****** CAT OUT?!!!

This isn’t funny..

Don't make me SHOUT (ok, I sort- of recovered it - Phew)

--------

I’m grumpy now - GRR, GRR, GRR :-(

It’s that bl***y doctor’s fault, I blame HER (pretty good rhyming, eh?!).

Anyway, what do THEY know? (um dee dum dee dum, etc - you can fill-in the gaps).

Ok, so I’ll just have another teeny-weeny one (glug, glug).

----

I am NOT so drunkles as thinkle peep (sorry, I blame my ‘new' teeth)

Just relaxshing a bit before I shleep. OK WITH THAT?!!

Now, WHERE’S MY DINNER?!! NO WONDER I DRINK, WITH YOU LOT AROUND!! :-/

Humpphh, besht order-in a NICE BIG PIZZA. Yummmy….!!!!

---

Ok, that’s blown the poetry rhythmy thingamyjig - HA!

So, best finish the boddleyboo - a shame to waste it? (hic, glug, slurp)

BUT I LOVE YOU ALL! YOU ARE MY BESTEST FRIENDIES IN THE UNIVERSE!!!

The Peetsszhaa is here (hic). Got to go. Finish the Pome for yourself? :-/

(end).

I'm sure that Bill Shakespeare would be proud - keep smiling on the Journey... ;-)

I think I need a drink after that one 😵 well done Mark, I couldn't stop laughing you silly ...

Best laugh all day!!

Thanks Pete! :-)

in reply tomarkbenjamin57

Actually Mark, it's more than funny, and I don't know how you do it :-) but its got some very carefully penned laugh triggers that strike some of us more than others.

I in particular curled up with laughter when I got to: WHERE’S THE CAT GONE! why did I find that so funny? :-) It must be that we all have a different sense of humour. The whole thing managed to produce a picture in my minds eye.

I gave the 'Pome' to my better half to read and she looked at me and said "what's funny in that"

Must be the steroids I'm on, but there again she doesn't find Dick Emery funny either :-(

Keep doing it Mark :-) and make some of us laugh at least

Pete :-( :-)

markbenjamin57 profile image
markbenjamin57 in reply to

Ah, thanks Pete :-)

Well, I don't know either. But if this nonsense raises a few giggles here I'll stay with it.

You're right - Humour is a very personal thing. I loved the late Dick Emery and his outrageous characterisations (e.g. 'Mandy' / YAABILY.. etc), 'Old' Terry Wogan's 'Janet and John' parody too. Legendary comedy characters?

I don't think it's the steroids - some kind of Humour is inside all of us - if we allow ourselves to see The Lighter Side? ;-)

Uncle stop that ballyhoo,

Twinkle twinkle oh my god,

What is happening to my bod?

Bravo! Encore! (Bartender, I'll have what he's having.)

(Darn, my prednisone brain took a detour at the who let the @&$ cat out and I'm now singing "Who let the dogs out..who...who...whoo.?)

Day after I posted this I'm still chuckling. Also, it occurred to me that some of you might not get the dogs reference. If not, here's the music video. Beware, you, too, may find yourself singing "Who let the dogs out?"

You'd think, huh? But I'm an easy target for humor so when something tickles me I tend to replay it a few times -- just to make sure I've milked it for all it's worth. Look forward to seeing where your crazy imagination takes us all next.

It's 'funny' isn't it? I agree - the same old gag / humour can trigger the Chuckle Muscles time and time again!

Maybe that's why I get away with it so often here? ;-) :-)

Seems like a good Friday night!!

Twinkle, twinkle, Mark is ace,

Steroids first and then just pace,

Add to this a drink or two,

Could be the start of something new!

Twinkle, twinkle, writing and spending time just here,

But I'm not even dressed, I fear

Reading posts I find I'm never ready,

I think like Mark, I'll just blame my teddy!

We need a bit of light relief don't we?!!! 😜

markbenjamin57 profile image

Look what you've started this could go on and on ..... 😜

markbenjamin57 profile image
markbenjamin57 in reply toJackoh

OMG Jackie, maybe I (or You Lot?) have started something here? Actually, what a great idea to have a competition for the best limerick on this PMR / GCA?!

The Competitors' prizes?:

First prize: a night-out with MB

Second prize: 2 nights-out with MB

Third prize: (you can guess... - don't even try to imagine it).

Yep, I think this one will run and run!

MB :-)

Jackoh profile image
Jackoh in reply tomarkbenjamin57

I am really laughing here- must stop- my husband now definitely thinks I've lost it!!! I am a bit worried though about the prizes - thought we wanted it to run and run. And for folk to want to join in? ...?!!! 😂( only joking MB)

Thanks for the chuckle! In Charleston, SC celebrating my almost birthday (11/11). I went off the PMR diet of no sugar, low carb diet with bread and chocolate cake with ice cream. Slept through my 5:00 am Pred dose, woke up a bit stiff and realized life is good!

Please continue to keep us laughing on this erratic journey!

markbenjamin57 profile image

Thanks from across the Pond, Sandy. Yep, Life IS good for us - compared with what some others are going through..?

No worry, will keep-up the silly nonsense as long as You Lot are there to enjoy it! ;-)

Friends, Romans’, countrymen lend me your ears,

I come to bury Mark, not to praise him,

For he hath plagiarised my words,

So banished to the sofa he must be.

His latest pome may make some smile with glee,

But for my part, it was all Greek to me,

My standing as the Bard of Avon,

He hath dented, beyond pardon!

Yond Marcus has a lean and hungry look;

He thinks too much: such men are dangerous

I’m not fooled by his words of gobbledygook

I cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war

Sadly I say, Et tu Brute!

Twinkle twinkle PMR,

What a nasty *itch you are.

You and sister GCA, need to take a hike, OK?

But we are not afraid of you, we’ve got Pred to see is through!

Twinkle twinkle Prednisone,

Let us eat an ice cream cone.

We know how you like to pump

That thing on our necks we call The Hump.

Give us just a treat or two so we can stand dealing with you!

Twinkle twinkle “aunties” dear

Who care for all of us on here.

And MB who brings us cheer, teasing, laughing at our fear.

What, without you, would we do? Can we ever repay you?
