Tens or massage foot machine for relief
I have long-standing nerve damage in left leg. Only driving solution is automatic for me. As soon as I realised my feet were not always responding as I would wish I stopped driving until i swapped for automatic.
i have used tens machine for years. It can vary as to how much relief in terms of muscle and nerve health for me. I have found it works more effectively for moderate to severe pain but that could be because I mainly use it then. They can be very reasonably priced so I always keep updating. Latest ones don't have wires and a nice remote so you can put on once then use as required through the day. I also found that using it on trap muscles helped most things below ...back arms etc. Pain gateways are mysterious and quite subjective in experience..
Just a little reminder to those who have a pacemaker. Tens machines are a no no for you.

Thanks Liz.. .I usually remember to point that out!
Hello Poopadoop
I have had PMR for 4.5 years which Rheumy recently thought was inactive so am on reduction schedule. Current problem is lower back pain and trapped nerve in knee which is awful. Have bought a TENS machine today but it has wires and is fiddley. Please could you let me know the make and model of yours? Many thanks and best wishes.

They have helped my nerve pain but I put as high as I can stand in terms of power.

Make sure you place pads following the nerve. not good on boney bits and you have to persevere.good luck!!
Thank you. Wish I'd seen that one first. I'll see how it goes and then may change. Good luck with your progress. Thank you.
Hello there
I have tried a tens machine in the past, my Dr recommend one, when I first have PMR and my back pain was quite bad, she thought it might help in case some of the pain was not PMR related. It could be what she called redirected pain. I think, but I did not find any relief at all, maybe because it was PMR. Pain,. Hope you find some relief, we are all different I guess.
Good luck
