I noticed yesterday afternoon my left Tubi-grip on my leg was wet. My leg was leaking a clear liquid...no open sore, just coming through the tissue. In the morning my sheets were wet and I could see drops on my lower leg in a few places...even with my eyes.
I called my primary care and his nurse wrote back that he was calling the pharmacy with a script for 6 Lasix pills (20mg each) and I was to take 80mg for two days, then 40 mg for three days and give them a call on Monday. I don't even take Lasix regularly. Previously, he had taken me off Lasix because of my kidneys...I'm done and it is time for a new GP. This whole interaction was out of touch with my records, my body.
After the Doctor, I called physio and they said to come right over. They massaged my body and it felt like they opened a dam. I could breathe so much better and I feel lighter, not like a concrete statue. They wrapped my left leg in a compression wrap, not sure what it is called. It was such a joy to experience something that made me feel so much better. I also have a wrap that goes from my bust to butt that really feels good!! It is like a Tubi-grip on steroids.
I'd never have suggested lymphedema to the doctor if it hadn't been for the Forum!! It is really something to know I'll feel relief, a cure? NO, but I will be able to manage it and I have exercises to do at home. I better do my part.💖

Oh Dear Grammy, you are certainly going through the mill, l’m glad the physio has helped & the compression bandage is making you more comfortable, they are really good as they ‘fit to size’ when they bandage you up. I have some purple ones (l would, wouldn’t l?) that l use on my shin when the pain is too much. Who is in charge of your overall care, do you have a Consultant? I presume you haven’t taken the Lasix?
Hope you feel a little better in the morning 💐 or better still much better 🙏🏼
The primary care doctor is supposed to look at the big picture; he is an internist. It is sad because I went to the same man over 20 years ago and he was fantastic. His practice has grown tremendously, and he is known as 'the doctor's doctor.' Still, I'm always communicating via the internet with his nurse, who takes it upon himself to dispense medical advice, I think. However, after I wrote to him regarding the diuretic, the nurse wrote that the Doc wants me to take it for five days. I'm not.
So, I have a primary care, cardiologist, rheumatologist, and infectious disease specialist. Now I have the therapists~~ getting ready to put me in a vest, shorts and boots that will pulse and squeeze (I'm assuming) after treatment gets to a satisfactory point. Probably not purple.....💖
I have a rheumatologist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, ophthamologist, dermatologist and gastroenterologist. I'm beginning to feel that my Primary Doctor isn't really on top of all my health issues. I don't even need her for a flu shot since I get mine at my local pharmacy. When I go to her she really does nothing for me. I had a doctor I really liked and I was fortunate that he diagnosed and successfully treated a serious health issue (C-dif) but he moved on to work for a union. It sounds as if you are diagnosing yourself and are ready to find a new GP. Good luck and glad to hear you have gotten some relief from your PT. Keep up with your excercises. ❤️ Jean
Big thanks! Yes, with the help of the Forum, I feel like I am presenting the diagnosis. An awful lot of it where I am, Indiana, is total unawareness of the interaction and impact of an autoimmune disease...it is just a fact. 💖 I certainly hope you are doing well, Jean.
Hi, Wow, poor you going through this, must be awful waking up with wet sheets.
Maybe you should try the water pills just to see if it helps, I was given them when my abdomen kept swelling on high dose pred, it really helped, I too have kidney disease but it didn’t make any difference.
I had one session of manual lymph drainage and within a couple of days my ankles were back to a normal shape! He concentrated on the worse leg but the effect included the other. I was absolutely amazed - and a convert!!!
Here! Here! I couldn't have imagined that it would make that much difference. It felt like someone removed my suit of armor around my midsection.....not that I'm a size 10, mind you, but I am flexible!!💖 I'll take a flexible 2X any day!! Plus I can draw a deep breath!!
