Hello folks, wee while since I posted. I have been referred for a Clinical Neurophysiology examination, anyone had this check-up. Was diagnosed with pmr+ 6yrs ago,saw my consultant 10days ago, said he would arrange for a repeat rituximab infusion, but got this notice instead, for the neuro exam. Would appreciate any "inside" info from my friends on site. Once again I thank you for being there. John

Clinical Neurophysiology

Absolutely no idea at all John!
It might be a clerical error, I'd ring them. If they are calling you for a scary sounding examination and the doctor did not explain all the whys and wherefores I would be deeply unimpressed with him/ her.
Probably to check for nerve damage or myopathy, where they tape little wires on to you and give you little electrical discharges to see if your muscles react ... Electromyography..
But what Jane says is right, if they didn't give you an explanation, maybe it's a clerical error... Though lately, with the state of health care as it is, I wouldn't put anything past them (doctors) these days,,,😱
I can't speculate why you have been sent for the test - but I was sent specifically to be tested for peripheral neuropathy as a result of GCA, when I started getting numbness in my feet. Although my feet are working normally, it seems there has been a little bit of nerve damage due to poor blood flow caused by the disease. How that would relate to PMR I don't know, but hope it gives you some idea what they're checking for. I agree with the others though, if you're in doubt with your doctors - seek clarification.
Unable to confirm anything today as local holiday Monday, but thanks for taking the time to reply.Your suggestions much appreciated.I will post when I hopefully get an answer Tuesday Thank you John
