Itching

I also have begun to itch . After five years i did not blame the ptednisone ... i blamed the actemra shot and was told to take benadryl. That did work. I have changed to the coated tablet of prednisone tho and even though i am not taking The actema right now i still itch. My glorious doctor declared it "dry skin" and I thought he was joking.

I have itching that I put down to dry skin. It does my head in. Got to be connected to PMR. I am trying Lavender oil as that's good for burns allegedly. I get these white spots come up sometimes that I believe are insects trying to get out. But that's just my vivid imagination. Eventually the spots go in to red sores and are unsightly. That's from scratching. I think it's the skin thinning and shedding due to Pred.

Funny. I have just gone back onto coated pred and was like a pig stretching my back on gate post yesterday. Our comes the back scratcher

Might be the colouring - try rinsing them under water first. It has worked for others!

Thanks for the tip. Every little bit helps . I am trying to get the Rayos...aka lodotra from Canada . Have not succeed as yet...if I believe my doctors....the drug company will not give them samples . My children would call that SOL.

Hi 30048, Lodotra is available in Canada, but I cannot see samples necessarily being given out willy nilly. The cost is around two US dollars sixty two cents a tablet.

Just lost my comment. Do you know where and how it can be obtained? I have tried and come up short!

Hi 30048,

If you Google it e.g. Lodotra Canada, there are various company who appear. I am not sure what the criteria are to buy it though.

I did what you said and had success with a company called GlobalCare RX. My doctor had ordered 60 of the 5 mg and it only came in 100 pack. They are calling my doctor for an adjustment . With time of the essence I was not happy about that. But they obviously have it and with patience I hope to get it in three to four weeks. It is coming from England. Thank you for your help. By thel way it was around $500.00.

Hi 30048, that is terrific news. It sounds like quite a good price too.

Would that erase the coating ? I need that due to my stomach issues I think ?

No, just the colouring which is only on the outside I think. The coating resists stomach acid - I doubt water would have much impact!

I had itching after taking Actemra for about 7 months and had a reaction bad enough to force me to stop taking it where my skin itched and burned so badly I wanted to peel my skin from my flesh at 9 months. Benadryl and increasing the prednisone I was already taking relieved it to the point it was tolerable and didn't progress to an even more severe reaction. I know there are others who take Benadryl prior to taking their Actemra.

Best ~
