I doubt you’d be offered an early appointment at your GP surgery or even a telephone appointment as these seem to happen after morning and afternoon surgery but it would be prudent to make an appointment for as soon as you can be slotted in. I would ring the hospital first thing explaining your symptoms and ask if you should keep or postpone your appointment. Let us know how you get on. Best wishes.
Thank you I have just got back from seeing my doctor.
What was the verdict?
She thinks it’s shingles if it gets worse go back to her but keep my appointment
Are you getting early antivirals?
No nothing she said it could also be stress
So, she’s not that convinced enough that it is shingles then because first 48 hours is the best time to prescribe. Is there any kind of rash? Might be worth trying an antihistamine just in case it is an allergic reaction. I’m surprised that itching all over, if it is all over, that her thought was shingles. It tends to come in patches and develops into more than itching in my personal experience of having it.
Thank you for letting us know. I hope you feel better soon.
