Weight loss surgery
I know weight loss surgery is all the rage but I wouldn't choose to have it done because of pred weight - some of the weight gain is due to the pred and not always to do with how much you eat. If the pred is making you extra hungry, as it does for some people, then I can't see how a gastric sleeve will alter that. I lost 36lbs of pred weight by cutting carbs - which at least has very few side effects and avoids the need for a general anaesthetic and all its potential problems.
Hello- I am sorry that this illness has resulted in weight gain which is stressful for you. I have watched over a 1/2 dozen of friends or relatives receive a gastric altering surgery. They have ALL gained back the weight or worsened their medical situation in opening themselves up to this "quick fix" (it's not) weight loss solution. I am with the PMRpro, cut carbs, drink more fuels and I started lifting small weight amount and walking. That took off the weight I had quickly gained. I can't speak for large amounts of weight from the prednisone as I've only the disease do a short time and I'm trying to stay ahead of gains with all the advice here.
