Haven't heard of that one, bowler, mine were just simple haemorrhages. I looked it up and, in case you haven't already found it there is lots of good advice on the following link which might help:
Thanks for that Celtic, It's strange that it can be caused by sunlight, as is my Bowen's disease, but also Azathioprine I was told can cause skin disease , and I took Aza. for a while, I suppose taking long term Pred hasn't helped with me.
Just to throw in this one, I was fine on Wed, at my sewing club, which we have in a heated conservatory for the light, and I happened to be sitting with the sun on my face but at this time of the year the sun isn't that strong so didn't take much notice of it, I wonder ??? silly me I should have known better, and what with me just having minor surgery on my face.
Sounds like sunglasses are the order of the day from now on, bowler!
Hopefully, the problem won't interfere with your actual vision, but at least it's good to know from reading the link I sent you that surgery is available if vision is affected.
Yes, good info on that link, I'm off to Boot's tomorrow for eye drops to moisten eyes, [ the central heating doesn't help ] hoping the drops will help. I will have to dig out the sunglasses !!!
I have PMR and GCA as well as Pinguecula in both eyes. I was diagnosed with Pinguecula about 5 years ago. I use Hylo Forte daily prescribed initially by the hospital and now by my GP. They haven't been a problem as long as I use the drops. I did have a very bad eye haemorrhage last year which took over 8 weeks to completely go, my consultant advised me that it was caused by the steroids. Hope this help. take care.
Thank you for your reply, I also have frequent very bad eye haemorrhages, and like you was told they were due to long term use of steroids, [ 16 years ] however this Pinguecula is something new to me.
The hospital [ A/E ] didn't seem concerned and didn't offer/suggest any treatment, although they did check my eyes over as I told them I have GCA.
and I am on 20 mgs of Pred at the moment due to a recent flare,
I went into Boots today and got some eye drops for dry eyes. I think this haemorrhage is going to take a while to go this time, it looks awful,
Doe's the Pinguecula [ mine is a raised white spot ] disappear in time ? I really hope so.
Sorry but mine has never gone. I also have catarracts in both eyes. I have been on steroids 9 years. Currently taking 12.5mg daily. My last CRP 4 weeks ago was 34. The lowest I have managed to reduce to is 10mg. I also wash my eye lashes daily in baby shampoo with warm water this also helps. (Ophthalmologist recommended this.)
Oh dear, looks like I will be wearing dark glasses all the time ha ha
Sorry you have also got cataracts what a nuisance,
Before my recent flare I got to 9 mgs, and wished I had stayed at 10 for a whole year. I got my recent b/test printout and my ESR was 21 and my CRP also 21 not too bad, but I am on 20mgs,
Thanks for the baby shampoo tip for the eyes, I do keep some here for my grandchildren's use.
Its nice to know that someone out there has the same as me.
