Full of a cold bad chest bit of a cough getting worse,I am on 7g pred will my immune system kick in or will I need antibiotics from the doctors, I prefare to let nature take its coarse advice please.

Antibiotics do not work for a cold, let it take its course and look after yourself.

Adrenals functioning and needing antibiotics are two very different things. If you have a bacterial chest infection that needs antibiotics all the pred in the world won't help and could mask inflammation in the lungs. If it is a cold that is a virus and antibiotics won't help. If it gets worse I'd check in with the GP for a listen to your chest.

Lemon and honey with hot water is nice. I use menthol crystals to clear my breathing which work well for me. I try not to go to the doctor at this time of year in case I catch some bug or other in the waiting room!

As long as it is just a cold just take the usual paracetamol and other throat things to make you comfortable. They don't give antibiotics for cold as it is a virus and resistant to antibi's. But as you have a cough and a bad chest might be worth seeing a GP to see what they think you may have a chest infect. which will need antibi's. Hope you feel better soon.

Going to a trade exibition for two days it's the annual national ice cream show two days eating samples never missed one in 45years got to be done.

Lucky you. I can't eat a cold apple let alone ice cream as the pred has made my teeth soo sensitive to cold. I use sensitive tooth paste which does help somewhat bit I can't wait to be able to eat an ice cream again! I had a bad cold and cough just after Xmas, as did many of my friends, and it took a while to clear up. We're all still left with a bit of a cough though. Seems to be doing the rounds still. Hope you feel better soon. Mary x

I can see that is serious work which needs your full on concentration!!!

You will probably come back with joyful sickness as an issue as well! And I don't have an answer for that.

I am on 7mg Prednisolone too but what started as a sore throat developed into chest infection and really bad cough. I tried the usual remedies but ended up on a 7 day course of 500mg Amoxycillin three times a day. I've had a chest x-ray and am waiting for the results. If you can beat it great. If not, my advice would be to seek help.
