After 5 years, my PMR appears to be ebbing, or is it flowing...??
however,.. I am having more good days than bad, and my brain seems to be working again!
We just returned from a three week roadtrip across mid-west U.S. The magnitude and stunning variety of this area is a sight to see, and we brought home lots of memories!
I know Europeans have antiquity and genius in the arts and architecture of your various countries, and it's pleasing to visit parallel antiquities and beauty in this country.
So ok, that being said, ...its pleasing to regain some stamina and leave behind the "pred head", fatigue, wretched days of pred-withdrawal, and all the rest. I am under no illusion regarding PMR's ability to raise its head at the slightest hint of stress...but I seem able to manage bits of the same without triggering a flare (dare I say that?).
So cheerio...onward, ...I have my blanket and bottle of wine and am headed out to watch the meteor showers and enjoy the show!

Good for you. When you get smooth bits in a bumpy road, celebrate it and be there fully, I say. No point in worrying about any bumps ahead when you’ve got blanket, wine and meteors.
Hi , currently at 5 mg., have been here 2 times before, but flares at 2-3 mg, took me back to higher levels. Still, I feel i am recovering...general health and feelings of well-being are more frequent, and I'm optimistic. It has been a long 5 years🙃
Awake most of last night. 2am sky was clear and no moon, more stars than I've seen in ages! Beautiful. Mars was bright and orange near the horizon and I saw the first shooting star of the season. Worth being up all night.
Enjoy your evening.
It's so nice to hear good news from someone, gives hope to the rest of us.
I must add that of course as you say there is always a chance of a flare up with PMR,but you do sound so positive that everything is so much better for you now, long may it continue xx
All of those.. first-through the Teatons, then yellowstone, where gr.daughter has a summer job. Then on to all the rest, including the amazing Crazyhorse Monument!! Its only 15 miles from mt. Rushmore, and equally fantastic carving of the giant mountain!! Loved it all.. though very!!!hot! Then to Stergis, (just ahead of the motorcycles😜, ) then home through the facinating Glacial Lake Missoula terrain.
Thanks so much for sharing your inspiring post. Sounds divine! I wish you continued clear days (and nights) ahead.
I was just saying to my husband last night in bed that I don't know how I would make it 5 years (I've only had PMR for 8 months, diagnosed and on pred for 2.5 months). I fills me with hope and determination to read your words of recovery and healing.
I think I'll take my cues from you......now where is that wine and blanket?
I understand your words, mine the same in earlier times of my PMR. When I finally learned the key to surviving is Self Care and Patience...!, my journey became easier.
I also began to give myself permission to STOP....Take a break, lie down, take a nap... and stop demanding that I continue to perform at my prior pace...I could not do it!
One of my dear friends said I should treat myself as I would treat her, if she were to be ill.
It took me several months to get the point....., that I have always been kinder to my loved ones than I was being to myself. From that point, I gradually gave myself permission to take care of ME. including telling friends and family when I was tired and need to rest. Speaking up when I could not attend functions that were too stressful or tiring.
Saying NO more often, ...and letting them take care of me. ( Which is a hard one, when I've always been the Mom, Fixer, caregiver, and go-to person.)
I hope your journey becomes easier...oh, and you are so welcome to come enjoy the Wine and stars with us🌟✨⭐️🍷🥂🌟
