On line info from the GP

I hope it was on this site. I read a post that said that the GP could let you register to see your notes on line from April. My surgery did not know about it. Can any one make it clearer to me. Thanks

Hi Lynne

This was first highlighted a few years ago, and I applied but it all fell apart due to the computer system failing- no surprise there then! It is being talked about again- might be worth looking on the NHS web site to see if you could get any info. I'm away from home at the moment otherwise I'd look through my paperwork. If you don't get any answers I'll look when I get back after Xmas.

Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you are legally entitled to see your health records. A GP may let you just see them informally or you may have to apply in writing if you wanted a copy. They can even charge you for them, so you need to check.

Hi

Look at NHS on line choices it was meant to start a few years ago but problems with cost and software did not work out .

Would have sent a link to site but don't know how to

Thanks Rose, I thought that I read in the past month that it was due to happen in April 16. I only go on this thread and the diabetes one, but no one else seems to know about it :( Told you I'm hallucinating....

Thank you Rose. My sanity is intact.

There is a lot of information on this site:-

nhs.uk/patientonline then click on :-

What you need to know about your GP online records (PDF, 332kb)

There are more choices but once on the site you will see them all.

The site I have referred to above covers online access. Sounds like some aspects of it are still a 'work in progress'. Hope this is of help. I'm in Cornwall and, in our town, we also have access to walk-in blood tests, and printed results - no charge.

Separately - you can already have copies of your Rheumy appointments - not online though (to the best of my knowledge).

At my first appointment with my Rheumatologist I was asked if I wanted copies of my appointment notes - I said yes and have received them by post each time since. They take the form of a CC of the letter to my Doctor.

thanks, I asked my GP and they denied all knowledge of any thing on line except e mail repeat prescriptions. Perhaps my question will wake them up !!

Firstly are you in the UK?

If so then the site you want is EmisAccess It is not just for notes, but for booking appointments, prescriptions too. Very handy when it is so difficult to get there.

You have to register with your Surgery to get key access numbers before you can sign in and use it.

It is excellent.

Good luck, and if anyone at your surgery doesn't kniow what it is keep on until you find someone there who does.

The receptionist rang all the admin staff that were in . All denied any knowledge. Thanks for the web site I can research it today. Hope you had a happy Christmas and best wishes for 2016. Good grief it only seems a short time since 2000.
