Thank you very much for your replies, all very interesting and helpful. I guess it's a bit of a waiting game to see how our body's recover.

I felt so much better yesterday I think I did too much and now I am suffering with pain in my shoulders again!

I am sure I will think of lots of questions on this road to recovery which I will be asking you.

Hope you all have a pain free day.

Best wishes

Caroline.

We have all done that and soon learn that if we overdo things on a good day, PMR will come back to bite on the next. Make sure you have a day of TLC today, and importantly always rest for a good few days around any steroid reductions whilst your body adapts to the new dose.

Your body remains intolerant of exercise even with the pred - doing too much on a good day almost always results in sore muscles the next! Your muscles no longer are able to tell you you are doing too much at the time and then they take much longer to recover. You can get to do far more but you have to start with small amounts, preferably on alternate days, and increase the amount you do on the exercise day. Eventually you will have better trained muscles. You can also do far more on a given day by doing a little bit, resting for at least the same amount of time and then doing a bit more. Rinse and repeat.

You can go for a walk for example by choosing a route that has cafes or park benches at strategic points - walk from one to the next with a rest each time. If you can find a circular route all the better. Or do it on a bus route in case you get stuck!
