Benefits of cider vinegar?

I have read on arthritis research website that some sufferers get relief by taking cider vinegar 3 times a day. Seems adding a teaspoon of honey to a tablespoon of cider in a glass of water makes it more palatable. anybody on here tried this for PMR and if so was it successful?

This has been around for a long time and keeps re-surfacing as someone else 'finds' it. It's also very expensive which would rule it out for many.

No, I haven't tried it myself but that's because my stomach wouldn't let me, it's under enough stress anyway. I haven't heard of anyone who has had success using it for PMR and I really can't see how it could help given the effect of inflammation on the muscles. However, that shouldn't stop you trying it if you really want to - you'll never know otherwise!

I tried it for arthritis...desperate times lead to desperate measures...it was resounding flunk and I have yet to speak to anyone who has any form of inflammatory arthritis who found it beneficial...oddly enough although there is no scientific evidence to back the claims, just about everyone seems to have a relative or friend who swears by it...

No harm in trying anything...

There are, as polkadotcom says, many such titbits on the internet - and everyone knows someone who has tried them and they say it works. If so - how come the pharmaceutical companies are managing to sell so many RA drugs? There was another article about it in a newspaper recently (I think). It didn't stick to cider vinegar and you could use it in salad dressing. I use about the same amount of vinegar as they recommended on my salad every day (yes, I know, boring, but salad has few calories and my salad dressing is top quality olive oil and vinegar and herbs, pure and wonderful :-) ) I really can't say I noticed it helped my PMR pain 2 years ago. The right dose of pred does though.

I have used cyder vinegar with honey first thing in the morning for many years - no effect on PMR (or preventing it!) which developed well after taking it regularly for years. I like to think it helps to cleanse my gut before breakfast. I could be wrong...................!

Uummmm - millions of years of evolution has created a gut that does different things at different places and it takes anything from 12 to 48 hours (or even more, less if you get a nasty attack of the runs) for what you eat to get all the way through. And it doesn't stay in discrete chunks on its way to the other end.

If you like it, keep doing it. But cleanse your gut before breakfast - probably not. Honey is sugar so if you want to cut carbs it isn't recommended ;-)

I do like it so I will! The sugar gets me going in the morning!

I take it in a glass of water during breakfast as it is a good antifungal and may help prevent bloating, that is one less pain to put up with!
