Hello Falkers. Yes I get day's of Depression and I put it down to the Prednisolone and the pain level at the time. There seems to be a longer tunnel than usual on those days..I find it's when I have to go up on the steroid possibly 15mg or above where I try not to go, but sometimes a flare-up causes this. This can be such a depressing condition but usually with my partner and families support the Depression lifts after a few days..best wishes to you and I hope you get advice if the Depression continues. trish29

Hi Falkers

Yes I get days of depression (well it usually hits me during the night). I find sleep difficult and about 3am feel really depressed about everything - I know that it is the steroids so I somehow get through it but it does help to talk it over with the GP and doing something different to take your mind off things - eg, take up a new hobby, do the crossword in the paper, anything to stimulate the brain can help. I wish you well and you can always link up with people on this forum.

Depression is one of the symptoms of PMR and is also a side effect of Pred. The odd down day is expected, but if it continues and turns into weeks or months then medical help is needed, whatever it might be.

PMR is such an annoying condition (and steroids can be a very annoying treatment) in that you never know what or where it will hit next and trying to second guess it just doesn't work!

I have now been to mind for an assessment and hopefully will start counselling soon , go to your doctor and get referred they can't help with the medication but they can give me coping skills , it's worth a try
