Levator Ani/PFD

I am certain that I have some form of PFD - my symptoms are conclusive. However, before I seek out expert help (which will I know be difficult), could anyone tell me whether it is "normal" for the symptoms to come and go? I don't ALWAYS have an ache in my perineum/rectum and other symptoms - I can go days or even weeks and be OK. Is this the normal way it goes? I was worried about seeing someone when I didn't have symptoms all the time.
