Monthly intense pain

Hi! Has anyone had pelvic pain that appears only for a few days (4-7 typically) each month, about 10 days before my period, and then goes away. I did a vaginal ultrasound, an MRI, and all looks normal. Yet the pain is very intense. I had to go to the ER several times because it was unbearable. This has been going on for over a year now..

Hi NightskyOk- If you can, you might try finding a surgeon who specializes in pelvic pain. I’ve had severe pelvic pain for the last three years, mostly around my period like you describe. I saw many different doctors, did all of the imaging (MRIs, ultrasounds, X-rays, CT scans) and ended up in the ER countless times before finding a surgeon who could really help explain what was going on. She suspected endometriosis based on my symptoms, which made sense. None of the other doctors had even brought this up, and I’m so glad that she did. Endo can be something that causes intense pelvic pain but that doesn’t show up on imaging. Long story short, I had to wait months and months after her clinical diagnoses of endo, but I just had laparoscopy for excision of endometriosis last month. She ended up finding Stage IV endometriosis that was growing all over everything in my pelvic area. She was able to safely remove all of it, and I’m recovering now. :)

Not sure if this is what you have, but if no doctors or tests have been able to give you answers (which is all really frustrating), I recommend looking into it. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and hope you feel better soon!

Thank you very much for your reply! My doctor also said it might be endometriosis, but it is impossible to diagnose for sure without laparoscopy, and I haven't decided to do that yet.

I am so glad the laparoscopy worked for you! Congrats! Hope the pain goes away for good.

Hi! I have endometriosis and adenomyosis iam in the middle of these excruciating pains as I type this! It's always 10 days before my menstrual cycle. I also have extreme watery discharge. Do you get this too? I've been given codeine and it really helps.
