CBD oils for pain management?

dbronline profile image
17 Replies

I have had some luck using CBD oil for pain management. I have only been using for about 4 days, but it definitely has taken the edge off the anal spasm I get after a bowel movement, which tears open my anal fissures. I still have pain and a great deal of discomfort, but the pain has been been reduced from a 10 to about a 5/6 after a bowel movement. Has anyone else had any success with CBD oil?

Which CBD oil are you using? There are so many and some are pretty expensive. I am confused which ones are best for our condition? I have the exact same issues that you have, and it's a vicious cycle of pain:( Thanks, Anne

I am using an over the counter type called Jan Hoop that you can buy from Holland and Barrett stores in the UK. it's 2.5% in capsule form. Each capsule holds about 10drops and I use 2 capsules a day. twice the recommended dosage for chronic pain.

Thank you! I live in Florida in the US, so I'll have to do some investigating:)

I can't find Proven on the web. Could it be Provacan? (similar spelling)

YES. I have been using it with GREAT success for about 8 months. I am, at the moment trying to manage without it as it is so expensive and within THREE days I feel as though I am back where I started so I tried one spray at bedtime last night and the difference is amazing. I will go back on the lower dosage (1000) which is not quite so expensive. At the moment it is buy one get one free from Pure Life. Get it suspended in Hemp oil and NOT Glycerine and Glycol. Buy it online as CBD sold in stores is a very low strength. Good luck and I hope it works for you.

Thanks! I am hoping that the lack of spasms will help my anal fissure to heal.

Hi I've got an anal fissure I think, nothing like as bad as yours which sounds simply horrendous; and I greatly sympathise. I've also got other issues which may be down to pudendal neuralgia or chronic non bacterial proctitis which might amount to the same thing

I've been taking 2 shots of CBD atomiser spray - 2*12mg = 24 per day; as well as 20 mg Amitriptyline at night

It may be having a positive effect, some of the symptoms don't feel as bad as they did, but it is hard to say

What I wanted to ask is why conventional medical practice hadn't been able to do anything about your fissure. I've got a complicated condition and they haven't been much use to me. I would have thought they could do something for a bad fissure

The process in the UK is to try Topical treatments/ointments first. Most fissures heal with this and only on Chronic cases do they go on for longer, not responding to topical ointments. The spray you are talking about, is not actually legal here - so not available over the counter. CBD oil is available, but only as a 'food supplement' - and medical cannabis can only be given out in special cases that have to be applied for. I am equally shocked that there are no pain remedied subscribed for this condition.

Thanks for your reply, I live in the UK, and bought the atomiser spray at a local chemist, I've been prescribed Rectogesic appointment in the past but I didn't find it much good tbh

Hi there! I have bowel, bladder, pelvic and abdominal adhesions, as if this wasn't bad enough I have a recent diagnosis of levator ani syndrome which causes excruciatingly painful vaginal and anal spasms. I have chronic constipation due to a dysfunctional bowel whereby I have to do daily irrigation treatment and manual extraction. I reluctantly have to take opiod painkillers and amitriptyline for pain control as I am severely allergic to other painkillers. I have been very cautious about buying CBD oil as there is so much products and dosage is unfamiliar. After reading a lot of posts on this site and the positive comments about CBD oil for pain control I have just ordered lovehemp 300mg spray, I thought I should try a lower dosage initially which is significantly cheaper. I am so pleased for you that you definitely feel the benefits of CBD and reading your story has gave me the courage to try it!! Will keep you updated on my progress. Stay well.☺

CBD oil in the UK is available over the counter only if it has the max of 0.2% THC in it. I have been reading some studies which suggest that the healing benefits of CBD are increased with medications (ie medical cannabis) that have higher dosages of THC. I suggest that you do a google search about this. The regulations governing CBD and Medical Cannabis are different from country to country and state to state. I am unable to get hold of CBD oil with THC as it is only available under prescription by a very small amount of licensed GP's and only for very specific conditions. The stuff that I am using is sold over the counter in health stores as a 'food supplement', not as 'medical cannabis'. It is worth googling and finding out more so that you get the best stuff for your condition. However, I am so grateful that even this low dosage is reducing my pain.

I was doing a bit of research last night online and came across this brilliant site. Again, this Dr is based in the USA - but she has used homemade suppositories using THC cannabis and CBD oils to cure her anal fissures. Her whole site is worth reading. backdoormedicine.org/about

Good luck!
