Mystery pelvis/hip "injury" LONG STORY

Three years ago I felt a "snapping" sensation in the front of groin/lower left pelvic area. Initially I thought "well that was weird" and thought nothing more of it. Fast forward a few days and suddenly my whole left leg went numb and tingly, as well as my genital area. It wasn't necessarily painful but it was excruciating and unbearable all the same.

I went to an out of hours GP on the Sunday and broke down in tears. Then came the pain in my left hip. I could barely walk. I went for an xray which showed some minor hip impingement and I never really got an answer for what happened.

Another GP thought it could've been a burst ovarian cyst so I was also sent for an ultrasound which was all clear. As mentioned in my introductory post yesterday, I've been under investigation for my gynaecological problems, and recently thought that my hip problems could be related.

I've got no answers currently for my pelvic pain and heavy bleeding, other than severe and widespread adhesions, particularly on my bladder and left ovary which are fused to my anterior and left side abdominal wall.

Anyway, my hip pain has been pretty much constant since that happened, yet where I feel it moves every so often. Initially in my groin, then deep in my hip, then more to the side, and now deep below my buttock. Initially it was worse when walking, then when sitting, and currently it's excruciating to sit up from laying or to bend over unsupported and generally aches constantly. I'm finding it difficult to walk again.

My left leg generally feels weaker, I fell over in a bar last year trying to climb two steps back to my table with drinks in my hand, my left leg just gave way unsupported.

I just want to know if anyone has experienced anything similar or can shed any light as to what the issue could be.

I've requested a gynaecological MRI and a musculoskeletal MRI but I keep being refused.

Thanks for reading.

Hi, I'm not an expert or anything, but it might be worth looking into seeing if you have a labral tear in one or both of your hips. That can cause severe hip pain, and also pelvic pain.

Agree. It sounds like a labral tear. See a orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in hips, but make sure a ‘sports’ surgeon as many only know about hip replacements and don’t look into the nuances. They’ll also order a specific MRI to look for a labral tear, fai, etc. I had similar symptoms and had the surgery which helped …still healing as it was recent.

Thank you Kat791 and Hopefulforthefuture ! I think this was something I read about 3 years ago when it first happened but as usual I was dismissed and sent for physio. As time has passed and things have developed, and looking this up again, I think you both could be right. I requested an MRI a while ago, with MSK, and with Gynaecology recently. Why are they so keen to avoid MRI scans!
