Me and my husband had sex during a house renovation, following this I started with strong burning/pain in the clitoris area and inner lips. I’ve been treated for UTI and thrush and checked for STIs. All clear and no relief.
After seeing a specialist he believes he can see ‘discontinuity’ of tissues (which I wish I’d asked him to clarify its meaning) but I believe this means tissue damage/abrasion around my clitoris and inner lips. Through discussion we now believe plaster dust from the house renovation has been on me and my partner during the sex and has burnt/broken the fragile skin. In addition, I have then been asked to put steroids there, thrush creams, sudacrem. All which made it worse over the following 7/8.
I’m now 9 week into this struggle, and I really want to leave the area to heal on its own. I have been using hydromol emollient to protect the clitoral area and just below between the inner lips, as everytime I wee the pain is really bad. However the hydromol hardens like small fragments of a bar soap and I’m trying to only bath the area once a day. When I’m trying to get the hydromol off at the end of the day to reapply new I am having to using my fingers tips to wash over and over this area and it’s irritating it again.
I must keep using something as a barrier until the skin is fully healed but I am not sure hydromol is the best option. I wondered if anyone has use petroleum jelly on the inner parts of the lips (wet parts but not near the vaginal opening) and around the clitoral area while there’s been some tissue damage as a barrier to help avoid pain after weeing/showering.
Thank you x

I can't advise whether you can put petroleum jelly on damaged skin, as I'm not a doctor. I would recommend consulting a dermatologist who specialises in genital skin disorders, as you may need a biopsy.
Emuaid is excellent cream for vaginal healing. I get it from Amazon. It’s expensive but you just need a little bit. The Emuaid Max is the one that I use. It’s the only thing that I found that helps with the burning. I also am on a vaginal suppository that has 2% diazepam baclofen 20 Mg. I get it at a compound pharmacy. You do need a prescription and it helps so much. Hopefully this information can help. We have to diagnose ourselves it seems.
Hi there, like you I am suffering from painful skin on the vulva. Feels like little cuts on my skin but it looks normal. Seen lots of gp's and consultants and have tried lots of different creams and ointments.
I tried hydromol but it did nothing for me. The gp gave me cetraben ointment which I find really good. You can put it on your vulva skin during the day and wash with it.
I also found soaking in a bath of warm water with either baking powder or oats ( put oats in sock so it doesn't make a mess of the bath).
