4 years to a correct diagnosis of Perineal Prolapse.

After 4 years with my pelvic floor issue & a failed sacrocolpopexy surgery in 2022, I had to attend A&E in January 2024 in a lot of pain.

In February 2024 I was finally gifted a MRI scan. A san they should of referred me for in 2020.

A Urogyneocology appointment in March 2024 & it was explained to me that I have a perineal prolapse which means my whole pelvic floor has dropped about 6cm.

Now the NHS is telling they are not sure if they can do anything for me, or probably not willing to fund a multi disciniplary team to organise the operation I need.

I have this and usually there is a rectocele with it . If the repair the rectocele they repair this too . I have declined surgery as it seems to often fail and have managed to get the pain to settle with vaginal oestrogen and mind body pain reprocessing .

Pelvic floor exercises taught by a women’s physio specialist work very well, Pilates is also good for prolapse and definitely try oestrogen vaginal treatment as this has several benefits. Surgery isn’t always the best option as it can lead to even more pain and problems needing repeat operations, so it’s worth trying the easier treatments first.
