Hello Fellow Members. I’m new to this forum but I already belong to the lovely Rheumatoid Arthritis forum. My gynaecologist referred me for a trans-vaginal u/s scan which revealed massive varicose veins and a diagnosis of “genuine” PCS. I’m 75 years old and my quality of life is severely compromised by the (apparently) typical symptoms. I have seen the Consultant Radiologist’s report to my Gynae …during a Rheumy appointment!…but my GP and self have not been sent any comments yet from the Gynaecologist. I have a history of DVT plus complete vein removal from thigh to ankle L leg due to severe varicosities. I’m willing to pay privately to see a Consultant as I know how dreadfully long an NHS appointment would be but my question is, would I ask my GP to refer me initially to see a vascular surgeon or….? I need reassurance that any ablation etc of the veins would be the right thing for me, given my history. I’d be very grateful for anyone’s experience, tips etc. Thank you. Sue.
