Hi, I am suppose to have this, but I do not know much about it either. My Dr once suggested Pregabalin but it would not suit me as I am very sensitive to meds. I also seem to be getting floppy toes, don’t know the medical name for this. I doctors don’t really do much about it. Hope your neurologist can help you soon, all the best.
Hi, yes I live in the UK. I have seen neurologists but not for peripheral neuropathy. They think I have a genetic problem, but I have no definite diagnosis. They did find I have a faulty PNKD gene, but all my symptoms don’t match this, so specialists are still not sure.
Hi there, I hope you have had some professional advice by now, apologies I have only just read your post.
I can only relate to peripheral neuropathy re liver disease.
Hot hands and burning feet, cramps and big Ouchy!
I was told my red, burning palms / hands was "Erythromelalgia" quote NHS website " is a rare condition that causes episodes of burning pain and redness in the feet, and sometimes the hands, arms, legs, ears and face"
However I was also told it was Peripheral Neuropathy re nerve damage.
I can only say for myself I found the gel pads/packs that you can freeze or heat - for sports injuries etc are amazing. I freeze 2 then wrap in a tea towel each and have one for feet and one for hands, top and bottom of bed! Heaven!
I hope this maybe some kind of help to you. (I think I can post this without it being a medical suggestion, which obviously we are not advised to do).
*Administrator if it is apologies, please correct me.
Not too bad during the day, apart from horrible cramps, looks like I have birds of prey talons for hands, or start limping if my feet cramp, swearing a lot!
"Dermacool" was given to me on prescription for the burning, it is helpful as has menthol ingredient in it, but it's not a magic wand, I find the gel frozen gel packs in tea towel really helpful. Capsicum cream is also supposed to help, but I am yet to try it.
If you suffer from cramps as previously said, Quinine helps, although the amount in tonic water is only tiny, again I was given Quinine tablets and Magnesium tablets to help with cramps, except my liver co edition is different and I have to be super careful what I can take.
Magnesium gel, ('MG Sport") or equivalent is also very good for cramps and restless legs etc, but only need a bit as goes a long way. It is for athletes, I am far from an athlete, but it all helps! 😊 I hope you get some kind of relief soon.
Please be sure to check with your consultant or Doctor before, the above are only my personal experiences.
