An MRI cannot diagnose pudendal neuralgia but it will rule out growths or tumours inside the pelvis.
You need to go to a multi-disciplinary pain management clinic. I’m not from England but I believe there are some clinics in London and I know of Dr. Gareth Greenslade in Bristol.

I saw Dr Greenslade and they can at least rule out pudendal nerve entrapment as opposed to neuralgia. If you have entrapment they can deal with it. Otherwise it's specialist Pelvic physio and meds.
An MRI doesn't show the nerves. Has to be MRN scan that we don't appear to do in UK.
I'm in Southport Merseyside.
Also saw Mr Siddiqui in Chelmsford Essex as he confirmed that nothing actually wrong with rectum. He's colorectal pelvic floor specialist.

I've found a good osteopath who is helping but all closed now because of coronavirus.

I have heard different things about mri seeing pne. I wouldnt waste the money. go get pain management! That way you get proper pain relief.
