Yes, I am now trying my second tens machine, affixing the pads to the upper thigh, not far from the perineal area. They mask the pain, so one loses focus, and maybe better ...

One on each thigh - How close to the peritoneal area? Just want to be safe.

Hello. My name is Deb. I actually had 3 electrical Stimulaters inserted in my back to try and help me with my PD. unfortunately none of them helped. The last one worked but then caused my bladder to go into spasm. I also suffer from Interstitial cystitis. I did have tens machines before the trials of the internal ones. If the tens units work for you. You may want to consider a DRG. Dorsal root ganglion Stimulater. That is the one I really needed and the doctor I go to couldn’t do it. Now he wants to send me to a neurosurgeon to get the appropriate one. I’m not sure if I want to go through it again. I’ve been suffering for too long now 18 years to long now and have had so many procedures done. I hope the tip I gave you helps. If you get any relief using an external Stimulater like the tens unit. You may want to look into the DRG. look it up. Hope that helps. God bless Deb

Hi Deb sorry to hear you have been suffering for so long - I assume you have tried PT? Bob

I did indeed. It worked for a while but then it stared to make me a little worse. I’m gonna go back. Only this time I hate to do this but I’m gonna tell the physical therapist a few things I learned that I would like her to try on me also. I hope it works better. Thanks For replying Robert.

I understand - I have had 2 years of being in pain at a high level - had some very dark nights there for a while. Starting to come out of it a bit now - I found not only did the PT help but also self manipulation when I had a flare up. The other issue is the mind taking over and making it worse than it really is. I take .25 mg of Xanax when it kicks up and this relaxes me and reminds me to go through the breathing exercises to relax all my muscles. I also understand that the pain can come back in an instant so you have to be constantly aware of how you feel. Look for an article called "The Spoon Theory" by Christine Miserandino - worth a read.
