Pain management options while waiting to be seen...

Hi

I have had adenomyosis confirmed and Fibroids (one of which is 7cm) summer 2019. I’m mid 40s, two children (adopted). Please bear with me, I waffle 😁

I am in constant pain most days. Gradually getting worse since Jan 2019.

Periods have been horrific for many a decade from a pain point of view and at times heavy with large clots but this isn’t every time.

I have tried (what seems like) everything. Mirena coil, various types of pill, mefenamic acid.

I saw a private consultant who agreed the best way forward is a hysterectomy, I felt relief at getting myself fixed, finally!

My insurance company are refusing to pay so I am waiting to be seen by NHS (Beg Jan 2020 is my appointment)

I am slightly worried the new consultant will have a different view point. Any ideas on what else could be offered that will sort out my pain? Not sure if increased pain is Fibroids or related to Adenomyosis.

If hysterectomy is agreed, any ideas how long I’d wait for operation date? (I’m based in the northwest and google only has info based on 2015 figures 🙄)

I’m seeing my GP next week to discuss pain management until I am seen by a new consultant, any ideas on what I should ask about/consider?

I genuinely feel at my whits end, my life is on hold, it’s affecting my mental health which in turn affects my family/work.

I’m open to ideas.

Many thanks

You sound exactly like myself I adopted two children as I was told I wouldn’t conceive my periods were all over the place, I had a ovarian cyst and they removed my ovarie then I took a cyst in my other ovarie so I had a appointment to see my consultant and it was him that suggested I had a hysterectomy because there was no way I could have children and I was only 37yrs when I had it done and it was the best thing I done, now I am 72yrs and my children are in there 40s so fast forward all these years and I have PN I can’t see it being a problem with you getting a hysterectomy hope everything turns out for you xx

Have trust in your doctor, for peace of mind it would do no harm to get a second or third opinion!! I

Good luck hope you get the treatment that is right for you.
