Pelvic physio

My pain specialist decided to refer me to pelvic physio last week as not many things seem to be helping my chronic pelvic pain / endo / pubic synthesis. Just wondering if anyone knows what the first appointment will entail? Has anyone found pelvic physio useful?

If it's a women's Physiotherapist,I think there more informative than most specialist. Providing she is a good one. I've suffered Pelvic pain for well over 12yrs now,and I wish I had seen my Physiotherapist in the first place,I think I would be feeling a lot better by now.

Yes it is. My pain specialist talks really highly of her and says she is amazing. Do you know what type of things she will do? I’m abit scared to be honest x

There's nothing to be scared about,it's just the unknown that tends to worry us. I find it slightly a bit embarrassing, but well worth going.

I can only tell you what she does with me. My first appointment was obviously a lot of chatting, then I stripped with my knickers off, very discreetly mind, they are aware of your privacy, then lying on my back she put a towel over me,and put her fingers inside my vagina, and slowly went around, and to tell her when I felt pain. Like I say don't let that put you off, because your body you decide what you want.

But I will say at least go and have a chat with her,I assure you,you will at least feel better. Just chat. You can always say yes or no.

All the best.

If you’ve never been for internal therapy I would very much advise doing it. The ones who do this are highly specialized. Important to get references and of course be very comfortable with this person. It does help! Good luck

I would highly recommend it. I have had pelvic pain for 12 years and it has been the only thing that has truly helped my pain. It is kind of embarrassing but you get used to it. It is very helpful and gives you tools to do at home to relieve pain instead of a bunch of meds with awful side effects. I wish I had gone years ago.

Have been seeing my specialist bladder and bowel physiotherapist for 3years and she changed my life. She was the first medical professional who actually listened and quickly took a detailed medical history and created a comprehensive care plan. This included treatments that she could try to help with chronic pelvic pain and bowel, bladder and adhesion dysfunction. She also referred me to a multi agency medical team who all work together to support my conditions. Hope you have a positive outcome with your first appointment.
