Can Laparoscopy give me Pudendal Neuralgia ??

Just been diagnosed with PN and I'm trying to find out what could potentially give me this illness. I had diagnostic laparoscopy a while ago and developed different pains around my body.

Maybe my yoga stretches that I did before ???

Any advice?? Many Thanks

Hi Pudendal Neuralgia usually occurs in or around the vagina and a laparoscopy would be through your abdomen. So you could only have PN if the nerve has been damaged by insertion of the Laparoscope into your abdomen. Hope your symptoms improve

Thank You for your reply, is just difficult for me to distinguish what is the cause for this illness.

This IS the problem with treating pudendal neuralgia.

Not enough physiotherapists and doctors , especially neurologists and neurosurgeons, are trained to diagnose pudendal neuralgia.

Physiotherapists often see woman after birthing vaginally because the perineal branch of the nerve enervates it. I am not certain if surgery will help a stretched perineal pudendal nerve branch. Guided nerve blocks may help.

The nerve can stretch with certain activities and if they are repetitive. Cycling is a cause as is line dancing, baseball etc. Sliding into a base the wrong way may cause pudendal neuralgia.

Not enough neurosurgeons are trained to do the decompression surgery on patients who have true entrapments.

My surgeon would love to do talks about this in Canada but no one invites him. Why not? They do not believe that decompression surgery helps a patient with a severe entrapment and IT DOES. They choose to remain ignorant and rather medication management is all that is offered.

Did pains start after laparoscopy? Then it was laparoscopy..sometimes they go too far and touch nerves they shouldn’t.. yoga stretches could be also, but less possible.. sorry to hear you got this nasty illness:( good pelvic PT could help

I honestly don’t think so. Any surgery is risky though.

What sort of repetitive activities did you do leading up to acquiring pudendal neuralgia?

How many babies have you had? Were they vaginal births or sections?

Do you cycle? Do you bend over and lift things regularly? Are you a ballet dancer or line dancer?

Ask Google if there are any cases where laparoscopy caused this.

Have you tried Compounded 10% Valium/@% Lidocaine suppositories yet? I use two every night for sleep or my damaged nerve wakes me up to urinate as the urethral sphincter is enervated by our pudendal nerve. Are you able to sleep?

Keep in touch. We ant to help you.
