We are both unsure as to whether or not she should have them having read all the possible side affects, especially since she is trying to loose excess weight she has gained since she first started having problems from the age of 11

This confirms what I thought and what it sounded like. How was the diagnosis made ?

Depo can cause major weight gain that is really difficult to reduce. Was any alternative suggested ?

Hi Judy she had a Laparoscopy at the end of July and registrar we saw 2 weeks after op gave the recommendation on her consultants behalf. However not a lot of information and definitely no alternative I have just made an appointment with our Surgery to see a GP with my daughter to get some more advise. She is still in a lot of pain especially when passing urine. She did have a Cystoscopy in addition to the ovarian cystectomy and removal of adhesions. It just seems that now she has actually had a diagnosis that all further support has gone. She does have a second pain management appointment in Nov which I am trying to get brought forward.

Was the cystectomy and removal of adhesions done prior to the recent laparoscopy ? where is the pain management appointment ? I can't remember what part of the country you are in

Hi Judy all theses procedures were done at the same time on the 30th July by Mr Partington who is the Gynaecologist at Broomfield Hosp in Chelmsford Essex which is where the pain management Consultant Dr. Alexander-Williams is based. We are in Brentwood Essex

Yes, I remember now. Was the ovarian cyst large ? I assume it was an endometrioma. Did they do histology on the ovarian tissue that was removed ? It would be worth requesting a copy of the surgical report AND any histology report from the hospital. You can take a copy of it to the pain consultation and you will also have it to refer back to in the future and to take with you to other appointments. Always keep the original copy yourselves though. It will be interesting to know what Dr A Williams says.

To be honest we are also assuming it was an endometrioma and to date have had nothing in writing from consultant/surgeon to confirm what was done although I did request it, I will be chasing that up. Thank you for your advice to date, will be interesting to see what advice the GP has at the appointment tomorrow. We are trying to be holistic as possible but it seems the only advise to date to manage the pain is the Pill or the DEPO injections which my daughter really does not want to take.
