Itch and sores
Hello sandrakay.
Well I can't say I've had red spots as such, just the itch where the skin has no signs of what is causing the itch. I started with the itch early 2010, diagnosed with PBC Dec 2010.
I know during last yr when I had several nights of itching rather persistently, I have a few tiny scars that look like brown spots on my legs just beneath my knees now, on both legs that is. Apparently where one itches due to a liver disorder, the skin can darken to brown over time so I expect that is why. My skin seems to heal rapidly but there are visible scars now that are not going to go white and fade I expect due to PBC. Old ones have faded but you can still see the slight brown tinge.
Like last yr in the sun the scars will become the same tone as the rest of my exposed skin f I get out in the sun (never been a sunbather until 2010 when I was informed by the hospital consultant to get out in the sun for short periods of time to boost Vit D levels).
Expect you are now on urso, hope the itching does subside over time as mine did improve tho' it's not completely gone away.
Hi there welcome to the sight yes I did have red spots on my lower legs and buttocks before I found out I had PBC and was told by a dermatologist that it was folliculitis from all the scratching and yes I also have scars from where I scratched so much made my skin bleed. I ended up gettting the Questran Light prescribed for the itch ( The ordinary standard Questran gave me dreadful stomach cramps and diarrheoa) and although it didn't totally rid me of the dreadful itch it did bring it down to tolerable levels. I am still on it, take one sachet before and one sachet after breakfast, one after a light supper and one during the night (if required) and thankfully now my itch is quite mild and tolerable most of the time. Over the years I have noticed things that make the itch worse, click on my icon to see my blogs has all the info re this on there. Good luck hope you get something that helps soon that itch is horrendous when at its worst.
