Gall bladder polyps
Hi....
I have a couple of small polys and have been told they are no risk unless they get large. I was told they don't treat them. I also have gallstones and have had a couple of attacks of gallstone pain which is worse than labour. I was told that I would have to have my gall bladder removed because of the stones. But I have now been taken of the list as my Specialist doesn't think the gallbladder removal is safe for me with the chirrosis I have.
Do you have Polyps? What did they tell you? x
Hi, Yes I have 6 polyps they were found on ultra sound scan during work up to eliminate gallstones. The largest is 8mm, I think they only worry about them if they grow to 10mm or larger. Not had consultant appointment yet, will see what is said about them then.
I did a bit of reading yesterday and a few sites said they often don't touch them unless stones are also present and if they are causing problems.
Let us all know how you get on when you have your appointment. x
I did have gallstones about five years ago not giving me any trouble and then went for a scan with my liver and they had disappeared! Also they said I had polyps and was supposed to go back to get them checked but never have.
Hi, I just got diagnosed with gallbladder polyps too - the doctor doing the diagnosis immediately recommended removing the gall bladder (there are 5 but they are all <10mm), but when I went back to my GP she said let's observe. I don't really want invasive surgery but at the same time I don't want the risk of it turning into something more serious (cancer) and then feeling stupid for not following the 'specialist's recommendation. (even though I instinctively feel it's too much at this point in time).
Has anyone ever had follow-ups and observed and what happened?
