hi

I have PBC/AIH overlap and see gastro dr in my local hosp in Northumberland. Can I request to move to a specific dr in a different trust (Newcastle) . Not saying my care is bad at all but there is a specialty PBC clinic ran by an amazing doctor at the Freeman hospital. I’m just wondering if I can request to go there ?

I wasn’t happy with my consultant at Halifax as he wanted to get me to take immunosuppressant medication as he thought I had the overlap. I did a lot of research and asked my GP to refer me to a specialist in Manchester which he did and after several tests it was confirmed that I didn’t have the overlap so the answer to your question is yes you can be referred to see another specialist at an hospital of your choice. In fact I have a fibre scan booked Monday
