So this morning I went for my yearly ultrasound and fibroscan. At the start of my fibroscan, the technician explains to me that they will be using two different machines. The first machine is the one they have used yearly and the second one is a new type of machine that they are trying to compare to see if it’s more effective then original.
With the newer machine you lay on a board that vibrates and then they take a probe over your liver in 5-6 different areas
I was told I wasn’t being charged for the newer machine. They’re trying to see and compare results and they will be sending both results to my doctor.
It was interesting, has anyone else been tested on this newer fibroscan?

No, I’m always to scared to ask. I’d prefer to wait for my doctors visit so at least I get an explanation with everything. I meet with him next Friday.
I am not aware of this. I know there is always a discussion about the validity of a Fibroscan - the person who does the test and the machine itself. I will see if I can find out anymore about the newer machine.
