My Fibroscan score has increased from 5.9 to 7.9 in a year my consultant doesn’t seem concerned as my blood results are normal and a recent ultrasound on my liver hasn’t changed apparently the size is the same. 🤷♀️I also have fatty liver. I was carrying a bit of extra weight but not overly big but have since changed my diet and go to the gym regularly so now have lost a stone which takes me into lower end of healthy BMI. Is it possible that Fibro scores can improve with a bit of weight loss as l can’t help being anxious.

Fibroscan
Yes , at one point my score was 12.5 , I too was told I had fatty liver .
I lost 2 stone through walking 10,000 steps a day and watching what I ate . My scores continued to decrease until I no longer had a fatty liver . I've continued walking and my last score in November 2023 was 6.5 .....at the moment I've gained half a stone over Xmas and I need to stop eating too many cakes and bars of chocolate !
Try not to worry , I started my PBC journey over 12 years ago .
thank you that’s reassuring l was diagnosed with PBC in 2018 my fatty liver has got worse. I was a bit overweight and since lost a stone through exercise and watching what l eat. I never really considered myself overweight just carrying a bit of excess which l have now lost. I’m still F1 so my scans say but fibroscan has increased in a year so l was hoping l can improve on it by weight loss.
In my opinion those results are close enough that they may indicate no change at all! Also neither is particularly high.
Bear in mind that the result can be affected by time of day, what you had to eat or drink, variations between different machines and probes, exactly what spot in your liver that the technician hit, you are never likely to get exactly the same result. It is best to look at trends over months and years.
Have you ever got exactly the same result from 2 blood pressure tests ? If you get a fibroscan of 6 on the next result will you consider this an improvement or just another much in line with the previous 2?
Best of luck. William
