hi Eppy, anything is possible, I’ve never had cluster headaches or migraines although my daughter does she does t have PBC but sjogrens and coeliac.it might be worth mentioning it to the GP or your consultant to see what’s causing it or if there is a connection.
Thank you for advice
i will , all they did last time was try to give me blood pressure pills when my blood pressure is and was fine ill keep trying to get some help with it
Can blood pressure tablets help headaches? Sometimes we’re given tablets that state they are for something else but can help with what we’re suffering. But from what you say it may be co incidence that the headaches are more frequent since PBC diagnosis and there is possibly an underlying condition that’s been lingering for a while without detection.
I've never seen headaches being mentioned as PBC related, especially migraines. It could be a total coincidence. Millions of people have migraines and cluster headaches, while PBC is very rare disease. We are the "lucky" ones. Hope you find a relief from your headaches.
I do not have migraines and do not believe it is part of PBC. My sister used to suffer very badly from them but since menopause seems to have improved greatly. From her experiences might I suggest you keep a food diary and see if any particular food works as a trigger. Also stressful situations (even when you don't think its stressful) can cause migraine. Obviously you have had a recent eye test to rule out any eye strain. Keeping well hydrated is important and if you can afford it Indian Head Massage, Accupuncture, Reflexology can help but I do not think migraine can be cured. Any idea of your magnesium, vitamin D and B12 levels? not sure the GPs in the UK will check levels as a matter of course but you can ask if you have a helpful practice.
Hope you find a way to reduce the level of pain.
Dear Eppy, I’ve had migraines since I was 13 but haven’t had cluster headaches. I was diagnosed with PBC at 45. Earlier that year I’d started eating gluten free to see if it made a difference to my health. Very noticeably migraines diminished significantly. So it appears gluten in my case was inflammatory. I’ve since been found to have gluten sensitivity but not gluten allergy.
I just thought I’d mention that in case it helps. Gluten may or may not be a factor for you. I think migraine and PBC are two separate things. But it’s possible there are inflammatory pathways triggered by gluten in both for some people. There is an overlap between PBC and coeliac disease and a tendency for gluten sensitivity in PBC. So you could always try going gluten free for a couple of months to see if it helps you. It may or may not but it could be worth a try.
