Have any of you used essential oils to help with PBC. I have been researching the use of oils to help detox and dilate the ducts to help with releasing the bile. I want to take info to my Dr for discussion. Medication side effects have been so severe that I only take milk thistle. My ALT and AST are normal but my Alk Phos has gone back up by 60 points. I also haven't gotten any exercise lately which had helped a lot to get my numbers lower. I also have type 2 diabetes. My A1C was back up some as well. Again ... exercise and better diet had lowered that considerably. Thanks in advance. Such a great wealth of info here!!

I am sorry that you have had severe side effects from medication, have you been offered more than URSO to control your PBC?
I have heard specialists say that they would not recommend taking milk thistle.
The idea of essential oils sounds very relaxing, especially if someone is giving a massage, anything that helps relieve the stresses of today's modern world sounds like a good idea.
I have recently stopped all meds as numbers were not improving. I am going by how I feel. I know that is not the "best" way to address this disease but I needed a break from all the side effects of the meds and its where I am right now in my journey. I will say I feel amazing. I do take milk thistle also, I take NAC, and Castrol oil and Cayenne pepper are in my tool box. I would love to know what essential oils you are currently researching and fair warning about asking the Dr. Anytime I even mentioned trying something other than their prescribed meds it was frowned upon. Prayers for listening and following what your body needs!
Side note: The ursodiol no longer helped keep my Alk Phos down and any other meds I tried I had adverse reactions to - the Dr. said "I don't know what to do with you now."
