PBC and shortness of breath
Hi Jess. I was getting shortness of breath last year, especially around the middle of the year. In fact I was really struggling on a walk when my doctor actually rang me to tell me my liver readings were out again and she was a bit concerned about it. I still don't know for sure what is happening there but she did run some heart tests on me and there was apparently a mild abnormality and some mitral valve regurgitation, but not sure if that is linked to the shortness of breath.
I had a severe shortness of breath about 3-4 months later but that could have been a panic attack in that I'm still also processing some traumatic events I went through. I certainly feel strange at times and that breathing is a struggle and then it goes a way again and I'm pretty much ok. The level of fatigue varies as well.
I have read that autonomic dysfunction is common in PBC which could be linked to the fatigue and possibly breathing as that is part of autonomic function.
I'm sorry you are dealing with the bronchitis as well. I'm not getting that, just the fatigue and intermittent shortness of breath.
I am tired all the time. I just hate it. I try to do things, but just smile, because im so done...my hubby always tells me to push my self. Well i do but still wore out. So dont feel alone. Hang in there...pat
Within the past year I was diagnosed with Scleroderma in addition to my PBC. I have also found myself short of breath. They are unsure if it is a Scleroderma related as of yet. I have to complete a pulmonary function test to see. So I would recommend getting checked for Scleroderma also since autoimmune diseases seem to multiply, at least in my experience.
