Distubed sleep is this normal?
Hi Hummingbirds1944, My many trips to the loo during the night is usually an indication that a UTI is developing, I get them frequently without the usual symptoms and it’s only the constant getting up at night that makes me realise one is on the way. A quick call to the doc gets me a prescription and a urine test.
I also make many trips to the bathroom overnight but mainly it is due to the amount of water I drink during the day to stay hydrated and hopefully help keep the itch to levels I can cope with. I also find that with age emptying my bladder fully does not always happen I suspect a conversation with an understanding GP might cast some light onto the problem but I have not bothered with my GP as I do not believe she falls into that category. I think in the UK there are specialist nurses in the field of bladder problems which you may be able to find through your surgery.
As to sleeping I have been using YouTube for quite a while now, I listen to free guided sleep meditation recordings which have helped enormously. I like the voice of Jason Stephenson but there are many to choose from. One of the most effective is a short 20 minutes from Paul McKenna. I still get up in the night for my usual walks to the bathroom but I feel more rested in the morning. I rarely sleep in the afternoon and try to get out for a walk most days.
hope this helps.
Hi. Same problem for me I’m 73 next month and most nights take a trip to the loo 3 times. I am presently attending a bladder clinic which is extremely slow process but will persevere. I’ve tried meditation on you tube but find it extremely difficult to get a good nights sleep due to having to go to the loo. I do take tablets for high BP which don’t help with the bathroom trips. Any advice greatly appreciated
