Hi all. I am struggling with my weight which I think is related to my PBC & Ursodiol. I have been walking, on average 3 miles/day, 6 days a week. I have been calorie counting & trying to make healthy choices. I have been doing this since December & my weight remains the same. Does anyone have any experience & suggestions regarding weight loss ideas/diets or exercises they have found helpful? It’s very frustrating. Thanks in advance for your suggestions & sharing.

Weight struggles
I did some research on how to help my liver... stopped eating and drinking anything with sugar. I cut carbs way back. I didn't count calories and ate as much as I wanted( minus carbs and sugar) I went from 150 to 122 in about a month. I still out eat everyone in my household and maintain the loss. I feel so much better and don't have the extreme exhaustion that most people with PBC experience. Hope this can help. Btw I'm 48. I also walk about 4 or 5 miles 5 days a week. Good luck and if you have more questions feel free to ask Anni
Thanks for your reply.
I am thinking, from the advice I have received, I need to cut carbs more. I try to not eat sugar but it can be hidden in so many ways.
I am 68 so maybe more effort is required. I will look at some weight training also. Back to the drawing board! Lol
I put on 20 kilos due to PBC and sedantry life style shortly after diagnosis but I eventually got a handle on the weight but taking out pasta, rice and potatoes from my diet. I had loads of salads and vegetables. Breakfast revolved around homemade muesli or porridge. I made soup from start but used salt free stock cubes ate lots of salads. Always with protein to keep me full. One favorite tuna and eggs with salad - quite some time later I added a pita to this when the weight was more stable. Lots of water and no sweet drinks such as cola or lemonade. Dinner was much the same lots of vegetables or salad with a piece of salmon or some other white fish. Again once the weight stablized I added potatoes with the fish. I make my own fish cakes so can have more fish and less potato and add corriander or parsley leaves. Adding lentils or pulses are also a way of feeling more full. Yes the exercise is important as well but reducing portion sizes. I lost the 20 kilos a couple of years ago now so have returned to bread and potatoes but in much smaller portions. Hope this helpful.
