I am really struggling to find anyone willing to give me life insurance. Does anyone have experience of this or managed to find a company willing to ensure. I have pbc but it is well controlled with urso. I am 38 years old and just want to make sure my son is protected if anything was to happen to me.

Over the years quite a few people have asked about life insurance and how difficult it is to obtain. If I remember correctly the best way is to find a broker who has a much wider pool of information than if you contact individual companies directly. I do not have life insurance myself so cannot make any recommendations. You might like to contact the PBC Foundation directly as they may know of a company specializing in this, I do not remember seeing anything on their website (free to join if you are not already a member)
As to your life expectancy can I recommend that you read PBC and life Expectancy which is a pinned post on this page. It may give you some heart.
Thankyou. I am a member of the foundation but I couldn't see anything online about insurance. Thankyou gor the reassurance about life expectancy also. My pbc is well managed but it is always in the back of your mind and at times like these you realise how fragile we can be so I just wanted to be covered. I will hunt for an independent broker. Thankyou
I just recently had a policy issued for life insurance. I live in the US. The policy was issued by Principal Life Insurance. I am just about 46 years old. Dx in 2015. My PBC is also well managed with URSO.
I have just gone through the process of getting life insurance. I went to the The Insurance Surgery and they found a company called The Exeter who offered a quote. After contacting my GP they offered me life cover a lot cheaper than the original quote. Took a few months to get it all arranged and sadly I can't get any critical illness cover but happy with what I have managed to get.
I have had life insurance with Mutual of Omaha for a few years, and was not rejected due to PBC. And it's cheap, too. I live in Texas. However, I was refused Long Term Care by many companies.
Honestly, If you are managing your PBC there is no need to disclose it as such to the insurance. You will most likely be considered if you tell them you have non-alcoholic fatty liver.
I couldn’t get extended health insurance due to re existing pbc condition. My banker financial advisor has an idea on how to get money in case I need after care after a liver transplant in 20 years or a stroke or car accident. I don’t want to live in a nursing home!
