Travel insurance with PBC. UK

Hi Everyone

I think I’m like the majority of us with PBC. My liver is fine, responding well to URSO etc. However, finding travel insurance has been ‘interesting’. Most companies (including the ones listed on the Liver Trust site) are charging almost £2000 for 12 months for me and my husband!! So, we have found a company which will insure for everything other than PBC (which is fine, as my liver is in good shape)

The company is LIVERPOOL & VICTORIA. £200 for a couple, for 12 months, worldwide! Hurrah! They deserve a shout out!

You wait til you're over 70...I'm 75 had PBc for 19yrs our single trip to Carribean was £1000 for travel insurance even though PBc isn't life threating.. But glad you got it sorted.

Thanks Jacqui , that is a good tip! My Iceland insurance was 160 for a 2 week cruise, I am 55 and travelled with 26 year old son…his was only 20 less than mine. That was Holiday Extras. I was dreading the quote, but was manageable.

Just tried LV for insurance and they would cover all my other ailments until I added PBC. Then just a flat refusal to the extent of refusing to cover the others health issues I had tried to include. What I don't understand is why the insurers questions all clearly show a complete misunderstanding of the disorder, assuming everyone diagnosed is on the brink of liver failure or worse. Does anyone know of any way around this?
