I was due to be going to Australia in February and now I am worried I can’t go Cos of another bleed and worried I won’t get insurance if I did decide to go ? Is it just too dangerous now ? I’m
Not sure what to think ?

Sorry, I don;t know anything about oesophageal banding but I think the best thing would be to ask your consultant about travelling. I'm sure there are ways round it. Good luck, hope you get to Australia and have a wonderful time
Hi I really hope you get to Australia to visit family. I have had PBC since 2011 and am at the moment visiting my youngest son who lives just outside Sydney. I have never had varies. I did get insurance through Boots at what I thought was a reasonable price. Good luck, hope you make it 💕 Eileen
Varices will definitely affect your insurance premium... you may need to go through a specialist broker - it is question they always ask when you are applying for insurance - as is hospital visits and if you have had a transplant....
Might be worth talking to your dr to see what they think re travel and banding - I would have thought if the banding has been successful and there are no further varices you should be ok...
He said if all goes well I should be able to travel later in the year next year - what specialist brokers do I go to ? I usually use “insurance with “ as they deal with all medical probs but I’m thinking they won’t even insure me ?
I use insurance with I was going to suggest them... might be worth a call or application online probably for a one off trip rather than an annual policy - good luck
You might find they insure you but not for the varices...
Yeah I always do one trip at a time but when I called the other day and said about the varices they said it had to go to the underwriters so I’m thinking it’s a no no - it’s very frustrating
