Hi and welcome,

Link above is guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of PBC. It's a great starting document provided by the UK PBC Foundation, (they sponsor this site)

Has your doctor given you a diagnosis? I know others will reply- sometimes there are time delays as members here are in UK and across the pond inUSA.

Do you have copies of your blood work results?

I don't know what is meant by "mild" case.

Perhaps the dr. means they believe that you are in early stages of PBC...

It is in many cases a slow progressing disease. Are you on URSO?

Are you seeing liver specialist yet? Many drs. do not know about PBC as it is rare. And best to have hepatologist or GI doc that is up on PBC.

Here's another helpful document from PBC Foundation U.K.

It helps you understand the blood work numbers and what is most important to monitor inPBC

Hi

I'm typing on my phone- so a bit hard for my old eyes-

I'm not sure I am understanding your situation--

Was your AMA M2 test positive? this is the anti-mitochondrial antibodies blood work that points to PBC.

Yes

Hello,

Have you asked the doctor why you are not given URSO? As I understand it -- if Alk Phos is elevated and AMA-M2 is positive, the PBC diagnosis is given.

And, early intervention with URSO has shown to slow progress of disease. I would contact dr and ask why no URSO?

Do you have access to a patient portal for emailing questions? I would push for this answer.... unless there is something I am mis -understanding from your post above..

How bad is the itch and where do you itch

Itching is really bad... it’s usually on hand and feet but sometimes it’s all over the body. Urso should help but in my case it hasn’t really. In all fairness I was under therapy for my vasculitis anca with cyclophosphamide and also with urso for the autoimmune pancreatitis and overlap liver syndrome (autoimmune hepatitis and PBC)
