Did anyone else get energy/insomnia with Ocaliva?

I'm well aware of the negative side effects of Ocaliva, but has anyone else had a Prednisone-like energy boost? I don't know how else to describe it. I took it for the first time last night after dinner and 5 am I'm AWAKE awake. My alarm does not go off until 7 so it's weird. Yeah, it feels exactly like Prednisone for me at about 20mg. I'm still on Prednisone at 5mg but my body has not been happy about the low dose.

But I feel like I could re-roof our house and maybe the neighbors house this morning. I'm just curious if this is a lasting side effect.

G’morning. I have been on OCA almost 2 years and it hasn’t had that affect on me. In fact I feel no different at all. I haven’t read the drug info in a long time so I’m not sure if that is a side effect. 😊

Good morning!

I'm glad that you've not had any negative consequences from it. 😃 I read the package insert and it was listed under thyroid effects so maybe that is it. My husband (who I accidentally woke up already 😬) said maybe it is just anxiety from starting the new meds? We'll see! I always liked that Prednisone made me feel energetic so it's a side effect I would be happy to have.

Have a great day! 💐

Thank you. Hopefully hubby is right😊. Hope it calms down for you. Have a nice day 😁

Unfortunately I wake at 4 to 5am every morning with no medication which I've put down to my age! However if this is all new to you since the meds then I sympathise with you as being awake at this godly hour is awful unless you can find things to occupy your mind!

Take care my friend and Icwish you well

Trish

Ps your nick name's an unusual one!

Thank you. I don't mind the energy, I'm just curious where it is coming from. 😊 I've got 5 kids so I have tons of things to accomplish all the time. 😅

Oh my gosh... your comment about re-roofing the house AND the next door neighbors made me laugh so hard today... As long as the energy is good and it doesn't run you down... go with it for now and see how things adjust?

oh and I see down further comments that you have 5 kids! That's a handful and then some. hugs!
