I’ve been on Urso for two months now. For the last couple of weeks my eyes have been very sore and I have sinus headache. This isn’t really anything new as I do have chronic sinus issues but am wondering if the Urso has aggravated it. I won’t be seeing my consultant until November after a fibroscan in October. My GP isn’t really very helpful with this PBC diagnosis!!!!!!!!,

Urso side effects.
I have dry eyes and sinus issues (I have Sjogren's). I don't know if Urso makes these symptoms worse or not, or if there is any evidence that it could, or does do so. It seems whatever taxes me, worry, virus, overtiredness etc, causes an increase in these symptoms. I have been taking Urso for 8 or 9 years and I am hoping to continue for a very long time. It is natural when we get unpleasant symptoms to question if a recently added drug has caused it. The weight of evidence from research says this is a safe drug for us. It may take a little longer for you to feel more settled with taking it. But you will be fine.
Hi, do you think Sjögren is linked to the PBC? What tests diagnosed it please? Xxx
The link is that Sjogren's is an autoimmune disease. When autoimmunity is triggered it can cause a few disorders and many of us have several of them, and often mildly. The definitive test for Sjogren's is by salivary gland biopsy but this isn't always necessary. The blood tests preliminary to this gave rise to the incidental finding of abnormal LFTs in me. Like Candy12 says, don't tolerate dry eyes because it can damage them. A good start is to be sure always to drink enough water and tell your doctor about the dry eyes. And don't worry. There is no need.
The pharmacist may be able to help, if you think it’s a side effect. They are more knowledgeable than the GP when it comes to medications. Then if it’s not a likely cause, a trip to the doctor may be needed to determine the reason.,. You don’t want to leave a problem with your eyes for too long best to get it looked into. You can get dry eyes with PBC but you should have this evaluated to be sure.
I get sinus infections but i dont believe urso aggravates it
Ballymahon2 do your sinus infections wake you in the night, snoring etc?!
I’m not sure because I live and sleep on my own!!!!! It doesn’t seem to actually wake me, although I do wake up during the night and I think I have been known to snore. 🥴🥴🥴. Not a very helpful reply I’m afraid. Xxxx
It is a helpful reply. I'm in same situation as you. A neurologist specialising in sleep disorders for many years at a London teaching hospital, Guy Leshziner, reports that many patients are amazed to be told how frequently they wake during the night (observed in sleep clinic) because they never knew that they wakened unless they needed to get up to go to the bathroom.
No i get one sinus infection every year had to get antibiotics i have had those infections for years diagnosed pbc 2 years ago
Thanks. Could be a bit of hay fever at the moment, hopefully. Xx
Yes 7443jec, I think your right. I have Sjogrens with PBC and my nose is so dry yet it runs, I think it backs up behind my eyes and gives me sore eyes and a headache - previously I went to the doctor and got antibiotics, but this time Im taking antihistamines and I feel better in two days already. It makes you feel miserable, but I think hayfever is the answer.
Kandiepat xx
Thanks, I’m now very aware of taking meds that might affect the PBC.🥴🥴🥴
