Hello. My GI & hepatologist have said Tylenol but only as needed & lowest dose. Some drs vary in their thoughts on pain relievers.

Paracetamol is considered safe. I have on occasion had to take ibuprofen for high temperatures but was only allowed if the paracetamol didn’t take the temp down. Not all doctors know or agree what you can take, as I found out the hard way. So my advice is find a doctor who is knowledgeable on PBC and take their advice based on your stage of liver disease

I take extra strength excedrin. My heptologist said I could take the equivelent of 2 tablets every 8 hours, but no more. I take this most evenings to help dull my muscle pain in the upper hips, and both shoulders and elbows so that I can sleep.
