Just wondering is it ok to drink zero alcohol/ low alcohol drinks I.e 0.5 %. Since been diagnosed almost a year ago I have steered clear of any alcohol but was recently given cider with 0.5% which I enjoyed but want to be sure that this or zero alcohol is ok on occasions. Thank you
No alcohol/ low alcohol : Just wondering is... - PBC Foundation
No alcohol/ low alcohol
This question is probably best answered by your doctor who is treating you for the pbc. It depends on your stage & liver condition.
I was told I was allowed to have the occasional drink of alcohol but I don’t tolerate it very well. I do however enjoy a glass or two of low alcohol wine every now and then. To be sure check with your doc but I am sure it does no harm.
i was told when i was first diagnosed... the odd glass was okay... i didn't bother as it made me feel rough... but check with consultant...
best wishes cazer
I think the answer must be to drink only a small amount but if that makes you unwell then stop it completely. listen to your body - it is your best guide ☺☺
I just don't drink at all it's just not important enough
Thank you. I was told an occasional glass of wine was ok but have only had one on my birthday and at Christmas, but wasn’t sure whether low alcohol non alcoholic were the same. Don’t want to take unnecessary risks.
Do you wonder if low/non alcoholic drinks may have colours and flavours that involve chemicals we'd be better off not having? That's not to say alcohol is preferable. But a little of what we fancy? That may be ok alongside the knowledge that if it's not ok, we will suffer the consequences!
Cheers!
